Something I've Been Working On...
Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 3:02PM
This is tentative art (and a working title) for a book cover. Needless to say, it has been keeping me busy, but I should be back to blogging very soon. There’s lots of work involved in this project, with much more ahead. But HEY! My blog comes first. Sorry I haven’t been answering comments, but I certainly have been reading them.
Never say never, but I have no deadline for this book. If you ask me when it will be published, let alone finished, I won’t be able to tell you.

Love it..and your new header! What is Santa Dave bringing me??lolz
[Santa Dave will probably be buying bags of salt this year, dadgum, but that will be for the water softener. How exciting!
Thanks, I'm glad you like it... and the banner.]
Dave, I'm sure it will be a great book and I LOVE that working title! Thanks for letting us know something is in the works :)
[Thanks, katfish. The title just jumped into my head. It popped up out of nowhere, but that's what usually happens when I put things in the back of my mind. Yes, something is in the works, but it's going to take some time to do it.]
"Casey Anthony - We Know What You've Done!"
Can't wait to read your book Dave. I think you've put it all together from start to finish and the result you write about will be very close to what she did to Caylee Marie.
[I have so many articles to choose from, nymima. I'll bet I wrote nearly 300 of them over the years that I covered it. There's a lot of work ahead, but I think I can handle it. Thanks.]
Running out for a bit. BBL. Berry, berry busy lately.
Dave, write your book! God's Angel, Caylee Marie sits on your shoulder to help you. You gave Caylee your heart, your love and compassion. You, her neighbor, so torn to have to believe a child could be treated as garbage when so many caring people would have taken her and loved her. She was not even allowed that. Cayle Marie still needs you, needs you to give her the hugs you wish you could have given her and kept her safe. Your words in a book can still do that!
[I don't know if I'll get any help, New Puppy, but it's nice to think so. I've got tons and tons of material. Right now, it's putting it in outline form that's most difficult. All of my writing has been off-the-cuff. Always has been, so this is highly unusual for me. Thanks for your moral support. With your help, I can do it.]
Very poignant, Dave. The teddy bear looks so dejected that he breaks my heart.
Am I correct in thinking that that is not the actual tree, but one nearer the beginning of the path? It has been awhile now since I looked at those pictures.
I like the title. Even if I think I know what she did, it makes me want to open that book and see what you think.
I don't know why, but this song is going through my head. At least the little boy got to grow up.
You Tube VIDEO | Peter, Paul and Mary -Puff The Magic Dragon
[That's the tree, nan11, and that particular photo was taken on 12/18/2011. I chose that one because of the bear it its base and because it was still rather barren in those woods. Today, it's overgrown again; similar to what it would have looked like when Caylee was found just over 4 years ago.
I love that song! I remember, many years ago, P,P&M were playing at a venue down the road from the restaurant. One of them came in with a group of people before the concert. My old boss, Jack, asked him, "Are you Peter, Paul & Mary?"
To which he replied, "No, I'm Paul."
Badabing! But a true story.]
Great Dave I know it will be special.just hope I get to read it soon.
[Thank you, Tommy's Mom. I have no idea when you will read it, but it's not going to be any time soon.]
There are many of us who are waiting for, and will buy your book Dave. Thank you for writing it.
[Thank you, Joni, but don't thank me just yet because it hasn't been written. I've been trying to organize it and it's time consuming. I'm more of a writer than a strategist, and I always write with a blank piece of paper in front of me, like a canvas. I am very thankful you want to buy it, too, and I hope you will still want to when it finally is published.]
It is time for you to publish. You are a Private Detective without portfolio and I have been an admirer,of your smart commentary since the beginning. I never understood your detractors and where they sprang from. I hope you can shed light on this aspect. Your's down the road in Winter Park. CB
[Why, thank you, cocotater! That's very nice of you to say. I could never understand the detractors, either, but everyone with any sort of notoriety gets them - trolls, and the Internet really brings them out. Fortunately, I learned a lot about them and from them. I made some mistakes along the way, but now I am numb to them.
I shall do my best to shed as much light on this case as possible. For example, I am pretty much convinced that George was in on the scheme to turn him into the fall guy. At one of the last hearings before the trial started, he told Baez he would lie for his daughter. I do know more about that, too.
Thank you again. That's mighty neighborly of you! See you down the road.]
I LOVE the idea of you wrestling with a book. Like the layout, love the pic, don't care much for that particular typeface (yellow/red combos look either too collegiate or tacky to me- Micky D's!), maybe a slight grey filter, like a sepia in grey, or blurred edges? Other-worldly, maybe. Throwing some thoughts out there- dunno, but this is such a dark subject- tree and teddy are great, the tree has a real visual rhythm to it- oddly graceful.
[The cover could change, Karen, and I am certainly open to suggestions. I like your "nether world" idea. Maybe I should give it a slight eerie look. Thanks for the feedback. I need it!]
This is great Dave. I can't wait. :)
[Thank you, Joanna, but keep in mind that I have no idea how long you will be waiting!]
Dave ... Did you read Diane Fanning's first book about Casey Anthony? I can't believe she put down all of those facts - in any kind of order. The very FIRST book about this case. Amazing organizational skills - style. Maybe that book could give you some ideas as to how to lay this down? Was it called - Mommy's Little Girl?
I will NEVER know how she put years of dysfunction and hundreds of lies, murder, and family cover ups, down into one book. Amazing! Makes one's head spin!
As artists/musicians say -- Break A Leg!!
[Hi, Joni - Yes! I did read Diane's book. Not only that, but she sent me an autographed copy soon after it was published. She is a very gracious and kind person, and she did great work with her book, "Mommy's Little Girl: Casey Anthony and her Daughter Caylee's Tragic Fate."
Personally, I don't think I could hold a candle to Diane, but I will do my best. Thank you, and I appreciate the break a leg idiom!]
I for one can't wait to read your book. What Have You Done is very fitting since if my memory serves me correctly isn't that what Cindy said to Casey the night she finally admitted that Caylee was "missing." I'm sure your book will be a very in-depth look at the case from all angles.
[You are correct, terri, "What have you done?" is precisely the question Cindy asked Casey that night. Thank you for wanting to read my book. I have tons of articles written that I can refer to, plus there's lots of outside research that must be done. Hopefully, there will be a few good interviews, too, so I hope it's an in-depth look. I will do my best to be fair to all sides, too.]
O/T a story for the season.
The Story of Three Trees
Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods. They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said, 'Someday I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems. I could be decorated with intricate carving and everyone would see the beauty.'
Then the second tree said, 'Someday I will be a mighty ship. I will take Kings and queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull.'
Finally the third tree said, 'I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest. People will see me on top of the hill and look up to my branches, and think of the heavens and God and how close to them I am reaching. I will be the greatest tree of all time and people will always remember me.'
After a few years of praying that their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the trees. When one came to the first tree he said, 'This looks like a strong tree. I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter, 'and he began cutting it down. The tree was happy, because he knew that the carpenter would make him into a treasure chest.
At the second tree the woodsman said, 'This looks like a strong tree. I should be able to sell it to the shipyard.' The second tree was happy because he knew he was on his way to becoming a mighty ship.
When the woodsmen came upon the third tree, the tree was frightened, because he knew that if they cut him down his dreams would not come true. One of the woodsmen said, 'I don't need anything special from my tree, I'll take this one,' and he cut it down.
When the first tree arrived at the carpenters, he was made into a feed box for animals. He was then placed in a barn and filled with hay. This was not at all what he had prayed for.
The second tree was cut and made into a small fishing boat. His dreams of being a mighty ship and carrying kings had come to an end.
The third tree was cut into large pieces, and left alone in the dark.
The years went by, and the trees forgot about their dreams.
Then one day, a man and woman came to the barn. She gave birth and they placed the baby in the hay in the feed box that was made from the first tree. The man wished that he could have made a crib for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree could feel the importance of this event and knew that it had held the Greatest Treasure of all time.
Years later, a group of men got in the fishing boat made from the second Tree. One of them was tired and went to sleep. While they were out on the water, a great storm arose and the tree didn't think it was strong enough to keep the men safe. The men woke the sleeping man, and He stood and said 'Peace' and the storm stopped. At this time, the tree knew that it had carried the King of Kings in its boat.
Finally, someone came and got the third tree. It was carried through the streets as the people mocked the man who was carrying it. When they came to a stop, the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill.
When Sunday came, the tree came to realize that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be as close to God as was possible, because Jesus had been crucified on it.
The moral of this story is that when things don't seem to be going your way, always know that God has a plan for you. If you place your trust in Him, God will give you great gifts.
Each of the trees got what they wanted, just not in the way they had imagined.
We don't always know what God's plans are for us. We just know that His ways are not our ways, but His ways are always best.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a bright, happy and healthy New Year.
[What a lovely story, Tommy's Mom. I had no idea what it would turn into, so it really touched me. Thank you.
Merry Christmas to you, too, and Happy New Year! Thank you for being a part of my blog.]
It is good to have this reminder Tommy's Mom. Thank you for this gift!

Yaaayyy Dave, way to go. I have been waiting a long time to hear about this book. We talked about it almost 4 years ago.. I am so pleased. The title is perfect, and I can still hear Baez shouting that in court. This book will be a great success and be all truth. Don't want to rush but I will be waiting, after all you did promise me the first one.LOL. I haven't bought any of the others but I definitely will this one. .I hope you and your family have a sfe happy and healthy Christmas and New Years.
[Thank you, margaret! Yes, I did promise you the first copy, didn't I? You got it! I guess the books success will hinge on how well it's written and whether people are still interested in what I have to say. What anyone has to say by that time, actually. Trust me, I appreciate your patience.
Margaret? I sure do wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, too, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for hanging in there with me all these years.]

I wish you a very Merry Christmas, too, and a happy and healthy 2013. It looks like we'll survive the Mayan calendar, but I never had a doubt. It's already Dec. 22 in some parts of the world. So much for that baloney!]
Count me in as a first buyer of your book too! I'm sure it will be great! Thank you Tommy's Mom for the beautiful story. I'm going to print this off.
God Bless You Everyone!
Hi Dave and Merry Christmas to you!
I'm glad to hear you're working on the book - I know it will take time putting your notes together, more research and hopefully an interview or 2. And I want you to take your time Dave. I want you to take your time because I want you to be thorough and tell us all the things that were kept from us. I hope you're completely satisfied with the information you want to put in it and your own impressions and opinions as well. This will surely guarantee a good result!
So take your time Dave and do what you gotta do. Now hurry up will ya cause I can't wait! :-)
lol.....
Love the Christmas banner....not too crazy about the book cover photo. can't exactly tell you specifics right now but I'd like to think about it for awhile. I can say that the font and the colors are part of the reason. And the closeup of the tree. I'll get back to you later on it. Maybe I will come up with a few alternative suggestions.
Dave~~just like Mystical said..."take your time but please hurry!"
I would rather the book cover take on a more somber appearance. Somewhere on the cover, I think a small picture of the courthouse surrounded in fog or a gray mist. I also would never give Casey the satisfaction of her name being the largest font on the cover. Maybe a lightning bolt hitting a tree out at Suburban next to Casey's name.
Dave, I would appreciate your considering the photo of the empty swing at the park. As said, a little bit of fog and the empty swing. If my memory serves me right, there was also an empty stroller in the picture.
Merry CHRISTmas et Joyeux Noel
OH HOLY NIGHT
Newbie~~I think the empty swing is fantastic. It really tugs at the heart strings. I hope Santa is good to you. xo
Santa has been very good to me Snoops !!!
Merry Christmas and God's Blessing to all.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to ALL! ♥
