The loud bark of low heeled derelicts
Last Tuesday, Cindy Anthony e-mailed Local 6 News saying she would give away a pair of Caylee's shoes to a nonprofit organization called Children of Love Foundation, which, primarily, donates shoes, food and clothing to orphans in Central Florida and Honduras. What a mess that simple e-mail created. After WKMG announced the news, the trolls came out in droves, like a festering cauldron of abomination boiling over.
Here's what went down. It's based on factual information interspersed with my opinion, so decide for yourself. Cindy knows a woman who works at the Walgreens Pharmacy near her residence, on the corner of Narcoosee Road and Lee Vista Boulevard, in southeast Orlando. As a matter of fact, the two women have known each other for years, including before Caylee's disappearance. Cindy's acquaintance, Doris Patalano, is affiliated with Children of Love. When she found out about the shoe drive, Operation Barefoot, the group had planned for Saturday, Cindy said she would do what she could to help generate local generosity. This meant contacting the media, something Cindy has never shied away from. What unfolded was a pity.
First off, Cindy can be a pariah. We all know that. She's not the most beloved mother in Orlando or anywhere else. Neither is her daughter, but that's another story. Cindy has been known to contact the press to stir up the works, so her reputation is far from sterling. Think rotten pizza smell and her blatant spinning of words. OK, fine, but remember, she lost her own flesh and blood, and no matter what any of us think of her, it's still very painful. What ensued reminded me of the 'boy who cried wolf' syndrome, so when Cindy tried to do something righteous, it came out wrong, as usual. She, more than likely, told Doris she would contact one of the media outlets and the woman thought it would help tremendously. Cindy thought about it later and decided, on her own, to donate a pair of Caylee's shoes. What a marvelous idea! Only it wasn't. To some people, everything she touches turns to crumbling dirt, and that's a shame.
As soon as word got out, all "heel" broke loose and the laces became untied. What started out as, more than likely, an innocent gesture turned ugly very quickly. Suddenly, the pharmacy got nasty and threatening phone calls. The nonprofit foundation got the same treatment and more, including despicable e-mails from some very vulgar people. Trust me, I know who some of those trolls are because they admitted it on a very open and malevolent site, where they plotted this nefarious plan of attack. One person with many phony names compounded by more of the same appears larger than the truth. What they decided to do was astonishing, and just about as stupid as the Salem Witch Craft Trials of 1692. They body slammed Doris and the foundation. Hard. They said if she or her damn organization accepts a pair of shoes or anything else from George and Cindy Anthony, they wouldn't just boycott the pharmacy and foundation, they'd bury them. They'd get the word out that Children of Hope is evil, rotten, and deserves to be driven out of existence. Not only that, but CVS would be more than happy to take their money for all of the psychiatric and antipsychotic medications they are prescribed, not to mention drugs for IBS and other maladies brought on by their own self-destructive doings. Of course, they finished their tirades the same way they do everywhere they squat - JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE, as if justice is theirs and theirs alone to give.
Initially, the poor foundation was beside itself. It had no idea the world was filled with so much hate, particularly against one person; two, if you count George. Fearing for their own safety, the group almost called the whole thing off. Fortunately, sound minds came along and sanity prevailed. In the end, the shoe drive was successful. George and Cindy dropped off six pairs of shoes and a bag of socks, all new, that will help orphaned children. Lots of other people did the same, ignoring the persevering pestilence that permeated the Interwebz.
The sad part about this is that a small clan of people can almost disrupt a good cause. Did Cindy set out to help Children of Love or was it more along the line of trying to make herself look good; to help rehabilitate her ailing reputation? It may have been a bit of both, but so what? In truth, most of those caustic complainers do not live anywhere near Orlando, nor will they ever give an ounce of help or hope to the foundation or anywhere else. What they set out to destroy was a complete farce. How dare they try to take shoes, clothes, and other items away from hundreds of children in need because of their hatred of one woman. What rotten souls they are. If ever there were a line of shoes called Cads, they would be filled by these worn out, low-down heels.

Ecossie~ ~I am trying to remember about that phone call that Casey said she rec'd from Caylee. It was around noon and I believe on July 15th, the date her mother caught up with her. Casey would had to have rec'd the call on her cell phone as she was not living at home. Casey said the call came from a private number. We learned later that there was no such call recorded. I wonder if the blackjack phone Casey said she lost, ever existed.
I dont think it was a real phone Snoops.Casey said she received the call from Caylee on a private number..An then called it back an the line was disconected. But if this fictitious call was made on a private number.Number with held in other words. Then theres no way Casey could have called it back. She told Mellich she received the call from Caylee on the mobile that Lee retreived from Tony L place.
Hi, ecossie possie!
Ecossie~ ~IIRC, Casey told Melich that Caylee was talking about her book and didn't she say that Caylee mentioned her shoes? Strange, no shoes were found with the remains. It was almost like
Casey was playing a game of Clue with everyone.
Am to tired to think straight see you alll tomorow goodnight Snoops.
Across the Atlantic....nite nite Ecossie....
Do not think I suffer from tunnel vision just because we disagree on Cindy, I don't know who these people are that you are blaming, but I know this, she started this whole mess, not sure if I am welcome here, cuz I won't always follow the party line, will state my opinion, you let me know if welcome or not
Of course you are welcome here. This isn't supposed to be a love fest. We can disagree and still remain civil. I made it clear that just because Cindy contacted the media, it doesn't make what the trolls did right. They had no right threatening that charity. We can complain about Cindy until the cows come home, but it still doesn't justify those trolls. Cindy's wrong does nothing to legitimize them. Unfortunately, some people think it is Cindy and only Cindy in error and that type of thinking gives everyone else free reign to get away with all kinds of crap because they won't be blamed for anything. That's wrong.
Dave,
There was a nice gentleman at the motion hearing yesterday - he was waving at all of his friendly bloggers.
It must have been you, Dave. Hah, hah!! Look forward to your follow-up.
Judge Perry is awesome. So straight to the core. There is no game-playing in his presence.
He will move this trial right on track, with little or no hitches.
Watching Baez, with his smirk and rolling eyes was pretty pathetic. Shows us all that this is not a professional who can handle this case. The limelight for him is over . . . Baez better get moving - May will come quicker than he thinks.
Thanks for your eyes and ears, and all the time you spend to keep us informed.
That friendly face was me? Actually, I had no idea the camera was on me when I waved. Very few people attended yesterday, and I saw that Red Huber from the Sentinel was looking at me and I just did what came naturally. Yup, I'm friendly, alright. Thanks, simba.
Hi, Dave!
I can only imagine how that wave is going to be mischaracterized by certain Trolls... I, too, was surprised how few seats were filled as there was a LOT that came out of this wee hearing. Say Hello to Laura (at least) indeed! I didn't catch the full gist of that- Linda BD was complaining she didn't (or did?) get a fax of the "questionable" document? Yikes! I'm also wondering what you think Cheney is going to ask those 30 odd LE officers that he can manage to do most all of 'em in one day!
I still advocate that this (shoe-gate) was basically Cindy doing what she does worst- Damage Control! But, No, any charity involved should not be subjected to the wrath of the Mob...
Hi, Karen - My wave was innocent enough, but merely breathing air is a sin to them. Creeps. As for the vacant seats, I think Casey's the main attraction. When she's not there, the crowd isn't there, either. The wave, incidentally, was for Red Huber, the Sentinel photographer, who always sits in the jury box.
I don't know how Mason will question OCSO deputies, but he's confident he can get the job done. I will be writing about the hearing today.
I think Cindy had good intentions and I think it's terrible that there is such vicious hatred in the world. Yes, Cindy is crazy but that's no reason for the cruelty people show. I'm sure many of these haters sit in church every Sunday. The only part that I disagree with on Cindy's actions is her stating that she would donate Caylee's shoes. She should have realized that would have all the nuts coming out to steal the shoes and sell them on Ebay to the other nut jobs. I think donating shoes that were not Caylees was the right thing to do. If she wants to get rid of Caylees shoes in the future donate them anonymously to Good Will where no one is the wiser as to where they came from.
Boy, Patti O, you put more faith in those trolls than I do. I don't think they have an ounce of religion in them, although they say they do. If they do, it sure doesn't show, and that's why I don't believe them. If anything, they believe they are God.
I also wanted to say once again great write-up Dave. And Ecossie Possie that was a great point about the Anthonys not answering private numbers. Duh...if the kidnapper is calling...to me this just is another indication of guilt on Casey's part.
Snoopy commented on Casey's missing Black jack phone. Whether it ever existed in the first place. I don't think it did because she said she got it from Universal, it wouldn't hold a charge which was why she didn't use it, she left it on her desk and it was stolen. She reported it to Security. That whole story is false so I don't think the phone ever existed either. What do you think? The other bizarre part of the missing phone story is that she also told LE all of her numbers were stored in that phone which is why she had no one's number. IMO, if she knew the numbers to store them in the phone in the first place then she had to get them from somewhere. I wish that the cops interviewing her out at Universal had thought to question this logic of hers and trip her up.
Oh, thank you, Patti O.
Here is a post I wrote in January, 2009. It references that Black Jack phone. It seems Lee was aware of its existence.
Hi Dave,
I enjoyed your post. I would like to think that Cindy was being thoughtful and kind by giving some of Caylee's shoes to a charity. I doubt that Cindy would have thought her generous gift could be in the news and blown so far out of proportion. Some people really need to get a life of their own. The situation kind of reminds me of you Dave. Damned if you do damned if you don't. Nothing you do is ever right in some peoples eyes.
I can't speak for Cindy, but in this case, I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. My problem is not with Cindy here. It's those disgusting trolls who think they rule the world. They rule nothing.
Happy belated birthday, Dave! Sorry it's late. Houseful of company from Dresden, ME. (I see Brunswick up there?) Then a grandchild changed the security settings on the computer so he could watch especially bloody shark attacks on You Tube. (Don't ask me why!) Along with that came a wicked virus/trojan that I near couldn't get rid of, and not wanting to give it to anyone else, I just didn't go anywhere until I was sure it was GONE! Microsoft had a tough time figuring this one out, as it's new and threw me onto a proxy server that took over the whole computer, even to scramble my email making it unreadable. Should anyone else experience this, I know how to take care of it now. :-) Should anyone not have Malwarebyte, get it. Run it every now and then. This isn't an advertisement, just good advice.
But anyway, I can't count the homeless people I know, nor how many pairs of shoes the kids and I must have given out, over the years, along with blankets and jackets and even umbrellas, when we've had them to give, and even my kids know to have a few bucks handy should run across someone in need, and who cares if they buy themselves a two dollar burger or a bottle of cheap wine? I think God only cares that we give.
We know dozens of parking garages and abandoned gas stations, and bridges that haven't been fenced off, where the homeless congregate, and even homeless families, who feel safer in numbers out in the open, than they do in some of the shelters, most of which are filled to capacity leaving the homeless no choice but to keep moving, wandering, looking for some place safe and dry where they might dare to close their eyes. We know where to go when the storms are coming or a the cold settles in deep and the nights longer.
Having grown up dirt poor, I know what it is to be cold and hungry. For a time we lived in a broken down car, and throughout so much of my childhood I was taunted and teased for the worn shoes and tattered clothing I wore year after year, never getting new until I'd simply outgrown them, or unless someone donated to the cause, though those who did were few and far between. And of course, I was always the kid with the "cooties", and welfare commodities (remember those, anyone?) were a Godsend.
When I was 11 I offered to help the woman (Maria) who ran the local St. Vincent de Paul, in exchange for clothing for my younger brother, sister, and myself. She was most gracious and had me fold and stock shelves and the clothing racks, after school. At the end of the week she'd give me a bag of items she thought we needed, while my younger brother and sister played with whatever toys had been donated in the back room where she, Maria, kept her Spider Monkey caged during the day while she worked. Now and then she'd take us all home with her to be sure we had a good supper. I worked in the school cafeteria serving up lunch from the big aluminum kettles in exchange for lunch for my brother, sister and I, as there wasn't always even two slices of homemade bread at home, let alone peanut butter. Needless to say then that the impoverished strike a cord way down deep in my soul.
I say these things only because I'd read over on the "other side" a few say, in their fits of hideous outrage, that they were going to make calls regarding Cindy Anthony and Caylee's little shoes. As kids whose toes were popping out of their worn, secondhand, Oxford's we couldn't have cared less where a decent pair of shoes came from, we were just grateful to have them. I see them now, the "others", scrambling to cover their butts in futile attempts to appear compassionate and concerned about the poor and impoverished. It just makes me sick, and perhaps a little bit sicker than most, having been on the receiving end of genuine graciousness. Underline genuine, if you will please.
I've much to do, so may not be back today, or even tomorrow. But I wish you all well, and do indeed hope, Dave, that you had a pleasant birthday.
Thank you, Feathers, and it's so good to have you back, if even for a few moments now. I had a very nice birthday, too.
Your story reflects that of many in this world and you understand compassion, unlike those trolls, who know nothing but hate. Oh well, some things will never change.
I look forward to seeing you more often.
Pattie, I hate to be on the "side of Casey", but she may have not known the numbers. I wonder how many people actually know all the numbers that are stored in their phones, I would not think that many? Maybe this is what Casey meant when she said, "I did not lie about everything" LOL. But why would she have a phone from Universal when she had not even worked there for two years? You are probably right, I am sure she lied about having the phone. LE was probably scratching their heads and thinking that they have this possible child murder on their hands and were so confused at everything she was doing and the way she acting.
When Cindy made the last 911 call she was frantic and very upset. But when Cindy handed the phone to Casey, she was very composed, not frantic at all and answered the questions. This does not have anything to do with the topic, but I just noticed this when In Session was on yesterday.
mchl44, welcome to Dave's blog.
Feathers~~thank you!! I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. Knowing the harder times back then, makes us count our blessings today and we are willing to help the less fortunate. I always considered myself rich but not in material things.
It's kinda like great-grandma Plesea who said "Casey hated her mother more than she loved Caylee." Maybe that is the case of the folks who attacked this cause. Their hatred of Cindy is stonger than their love of a good cause. I just simply blame Cindy. She's so disrespected that everything she comes into contact with blows up in her face. She should get a clue and just fade into the background and stop trying to convince the world her daughter is the perfect "mother of the year." A little honesty and humility would go a long way, but I'm convinced none of the Anthonys have it in them.
Certainly, this would have been better had Cindy not e-mailed WKMG, but still, the trolls had no right to throw a monkey wrench into the works. What they did jeopardized the shoe drive and that was just wrong, pure and simple. If Cindy had no right, what gave the trolls any rights to condemn the pharmacy and the charitable foundation? It seems to me the trolls are just as bad as her. No, check that, a thousand times worse.
These aholes just want to spew there hatred by making themselves seem holier than thou ... fortunately this group is to STUPID to realize people will see right though there venom and call them out on the slim they truly are.
How could you try and make people not give to the poor!? There is no excuse for this! The level they will stoop to is endless!
THANK YOU DAVE FOR BRINGING THIS SCUMMY GROUP TO OUR ATTENTION ... AGAIN.
Unfortunately I'm sure this wont be your last post on this disgusting group, as they're too idiotic to stop there hatred acts on innocent people, including the POOR.
Have a great day all.
Thanks, Steeplechase Girl. Nothing will ever bring those people up to speed. They love to call people 3rd grade level names because they have 3rd grade level minds. Plain and simple.
Hi Dave. Great Post again! I don't know what gets into people. I can't believe people get so full of themselves that they don't care who they hurt. Why threaten people who are trying to help those in need? It is a shame and I am glad you called the trolls out on this.
Thanks, Carol. The reason they do what they do is because they are Aqualung, Gollum, and mindless zombies all rolled into one.
Dave I have a question for you. There's a man that attends all the hearings with the Anthony's and I noticed he was in one of the courtroom pics that WFTV had on there website. He is also a bald man and he seems kind of tall. I noticed the Anthony's weren't there but yet he still was. Do you know who he is and why he has such an interest in the case is he a relative?? Just curious...Thanks in advance
Hi, Chris from PA. That is Jim Lichtenstein. He's a very nice fellow, and quite a professional. He's a producer for the Today Show and other venues. He's also a genuine friend of the Anthonys and his friendship usurps his professional interests. In other words, he's very ethical and a genuine friend who's not out to get scoops or stories at anyone's expense. He follows this case intently.
Ecossie Possie - THANKS for reminding us of that insightful quote about walking a mile in someone elses shoes.....
Steeplechase Girl - you and Dave are right they will never stop and they will never get it. They don't have the intelligence to understand their hate-spew is vindictive. They don't understand the line between right and wrong...They just can't seem to handle the truth and are in desperate need of attention
A producer of the Today Show is not out to get scoops or stories yet is sitting in the courtroom for?
Dont get that one. Why is he there then?
Like me, he's got a keen interest in the case as a professional, but he befriended the Anthonys on day one, and he's been a very good and loyal friend ever since. I don't see a problem or conflict whatsoever. He's a good guy and we always talk when we see each other. The guy's got integrity and I'll vouch for that.
Why does every article seem to end up being about trolls and those "whose name we must not speak"? I want to talk about Caylee and the case. We used to do that here. What happened?
Because the trolls practically ruined the charity with their disgusting antics. Whether you want to acknowledge them or not, they are a sad part of this case and their actions were all over the news this past week. I didn't make this up, you know, and I mentioned no one by their fake persona. Trolls could be anywhere and anyone.
Anthony Prosecutors Turn Over Tapes Of Evidence Review
Dave, Happy belated Borthday! I just realized your birthday had passed. Hope you had a great day!
Thanks, Barbara. I'm glad it was just my birthday that just passed and not me. Yes, I had a great day.
That means we should get to watch them very soon, Mary Jo. Thanks.
Dave, you are welcome. I hope the media asks soon for this to be released.
I reread Lee and Casey's conversation in the jail where they talk about the blackjack. Apparently she said she did purchase it from an AT&T store for work. (I thought she told the cops Universal had given it to her). Can they prove this phone was ever purchased? She told Lee she had the phone for a week & a half before she lost it. So in that week and a half she managed to store Zanny's number on the phone and from there it's forever lost. She also told Lee that her Nokia and Blackjack phones used the same phone number. I'm sure the cops have the phone records that show no calls or texts ever came in from a Zanny.
Cheers for Judge Perry who is taking no B.S. from the defense. Casey really lucked out getting Jose. If not for him she would already have a room in the big house.
Great post Dave. You always manage to strike a cord in the ever present Cindy. It shows that no matter how hard the evil doers try to destroy something, they just can't quite make it. You are living proof of how to overcome an angry mob of ill will. I'm happy to hear that the drive was successful. No matter what Cindy does, it will always have a tainted imprint that spells suspicious. I suppose their lives will never be normal anymore nor their privacy. It's a damn shame that people have nothing better to do than interefere in other people's lives whether they are good or bad, ugly or beautiful. Jealousy = hate which taken seriously can destroy. I just pray that it doesn't get any uglier than it has already become.
Thank you, Weezie. It's so great to have you back, too. My problem with those trolls is that it was none of their business to begin with since not one of them had any intention of helping that charity one bit. Stay out of it. Then, they almost ruined it and kept orphaned children without. That's just plain sick, vindictive, self-centered and utterly sinful. This is the same crap they pull on me day after day after day, but you know what? They hardened me. They have no idea how many letters they sent out got tossed into the circular file. They are a laughing stock. If it gets any uglier, it's because they haven't hit rock bottom in the ugly bucket yet, and they are as ugly as they come.
Oh thank you, Dave, for such a level-headed, good hearted response. I get so tired of the vitriol that gets spewed - at anything Anthony. As you said, G&C lost Caylee, their own flesh and blood, their beloved little grand-daughter. Cindy does do a lot of spewing herself, but this kind of attack on her was uncalled for - mean-spirited - and filled with bile and hatred. This kind of viciousness speaks more about the people doing it than it does about what is in Cindy's mind and heart. Let the woman be. She seems unbalanced to me - now. She and George should be left alone - out of kindness. But I guess that is something trolls don't have in their hearts. Vengence is mine, sayeth the Lord. And Justice is in the hands of the Law. Justice for Caylee is coming - and it has nothing to do with trolls, hatred - or Cindy giving away Caylee's shoes. BTW, I thought that was a sweet gesture. She did it for Caylee. And maybe herself - but so what (as you say - and I say - don't we all . . ?).
You know, D2, the attack was actually on the charity. The trolls used Cindy as their catalyst. What would we expect, though? They have no brains, nor do they have an ounce of common sense. These are adults, not children; middle-aged and older. You would think they would know better than to act like 3rd graders, but you know, that's precisely why I wouldn't let them comment on my site any longer. They called everyone 3rd grade level names. Some things will never change.
Thanks!
I think opinions are important, and here's mine. In light of the shoe episode. I hope you allow it to post.
These are my own words so my copying them is okay. I would like to say that if media attention was Mrs. Anthony's goal she could've just alerted the media/tv/radio/press through their community calendar sections. I do it often for wrestling team community service events. I don't need to mention myself just the actual event and who it benefits. We get great public response that way.
my thoughts, which it would be only fair to allow to stand.
I have no problem with another child wearing Caylee's shoes or enjoying her toys or even keeping warm in her clothes. I think the thought of Caylee's love flowing out to other children is a beautiful image to have. Every photo the Anthonys sold shows a sweet little girl with a beautiful smile. It's the selling of Caylee that sickens me. The selling of her photos, the selling of her name, and now just when we thought these people, the Anthonys, these horrible horrible people were done with their exploiting, done with their games. done with their blatent using of Caylee to save Casey. Now this... and it still isn't about Caylee. It's about face time, making money, selling Caylee. Cindy could've gone to any charity drop box, she could have approached her pastor asked him/her to help with a private donation. But she didn't, she didn't go through her pastor, her new attys, or even quietly through her own means. No, she chose to e-mail a tv station, she chose to take it away from charity and make it a scene. She invited the cameras and microphones to sing her praises, she called them to glorify her not God, not Caylee.
That is why I was angry but it didn't make me less likely to give. It made me want to give more not because of Cindy Anthony ... in spite of her. I ask you all to do this too. Go through your closets this week, take out your children's gently used too small coats, gloves, and boots. Pull out the things they cannot or will not wear any more. Take those thing to any local shelter for homeless families, or to your local abused women and children's safe home, or ask your local pastor to help you find people who can use these things. And while you go to buy back-to-school items, buy two. buy one for your children and donate another to those same places. Do it in spite of Cindy Anthony, do it privately if you want or bring your friends and neighbors to do the same but do it to remember that most of us are not Cindy Anthony, we care, we love, and we cry when a little life is lost or hurt, we care no matter who it is. Take away Cindy's power and erase her selfishness. Do it in spite of her, not because of her. Let's shut her up once and for all. While she's busy selling Caylee, let's quietly remember her and all the other little lives lost and hurt each year.
I agree with you, marshmallow. Cindy could have been anonymous and done the same thing. Unfortunately, she didn't, but even so, the group of ugly trolls who contacted that charity and did everything they could to drive them into the ground were even worse than Cindy. Yes, she disrupted it, but they wanted to destroy it. She didn't want to deny orphaned children, they did, and they almost succeeded. As wrong as Cindy was - and YES, she was - they were worse, and they continue to be that way. If you are willing to actively go after the goose, then go after the gander. Cindy's wrongs did nothing to make those sanctimonious freaks right.
If anything they shot themselves in the foot and broadcasted what complete moron's they are to a wider audience because this story brought several tv stations into the mix for news stories. So now a lot MORE people are aware of how low their mentality is.
They openly discussed their plan, too, MysticalPippin, so it was quite evident who was behind it. Everywhere they go, they squat and disrupt. Even cats learn to use a litter box. Those creeps are incapable of it.
as I've said to you privately Dave, there is blame enough for both and what you don't see is the amount posters who gave quietly to let the charity, and others know, that we are wise enough to see what Mrs. Anthony was up to.
I ask all of you here.... what did you do? did you give? did you choose to only call names and pound your fists agaist these "trolls" or did you quietly give?
did you help solve the problem or incite it to be worse. I gave and I qualify as one of your trolls because I voice my opinions on a message board but I also give and participate in helping others.
Calling names and insulting these trolls is all well and good but it's no different than them. Angry words on a message board are equal no matter where the board may be and who you have to know to post there. I happen to know some you may call names and insult have given and continue to find ways to give in their own areas, in Caylee's name the names of other children who will never grow up to see tomorrow. That says quite a bit to me.
I stand by my condemnation of the selfserving Anthonys, Cindy caused the avalanche after all and she did so willfully. Luckily many of us decided to truely give, not just a pair of socks or shoes for a tv camera but things we know will be used and will be appreciated and that, not angry words, is what's important.
ha ha that's funny Dave. Did you know that cats do it instinctively because they don't like the smell...Even when they are outside they still dig. Cats have class....these people well....I don't like to speak badly of the undead but their mothers never had any children...that lived.....
marshmallow - Did you call the pharmacy or the charity and cuss them out? No. Therefore, you are not one of them. Whether you, me or anyone else chose to donate or not is not the issue. It's all about those nutcases digging into something they have no business doing. They had no intent to donate. All they wanted to do was trash. I merely pointed them out.
Those trolls relish the smell, Mystical Pippin. Somebody should bury their mouths in the litterbox.
Marshmellow,
No one here called you a troll. It was you who chose to lump yourself into that group...... "I gave and I qualify as one of your trolls because I voice my opinions on a message board but I also, give and participate in helping others" your words. A few days ago when I first heard about the charity debacle (I live on the west coast) I asked the boards if these people were the same ones who malign Dave on a weekly basis.
Dave answered back informing me yes the very same ones. Perhaps you don't know what these people have said about Dave's blog and his pro-active style in doing a good a job for his business by attending the trial hearings to get the story firsthand instead of relying on news reports. But I do. In fact, I went to a few of their sites when they started their campaign to discredit him and his blog. The disgusting insults and personal attacks were over the top. It was so disturbing I had to stop checking up on their hate speech after several visits. They called Dave a liar, a wannabe journalist, a man who inserts himself into a story because he seeks attention, and wants people to think he is important.
They called him a bald, fat, in the closet gay man (as if those things make you a bad person). They insulted his readers here too calling us stupid and so wiling to believe his fairy tales, they said we hang on his every word and we can't make it thru the day or week without him, etc, etc..... A few, even said they would do whatever they could to "take him and his site down", they wanted him to be publically discredited and made no attempt to hide their despicable attitude and low class behavior......
One of the things that never ceases to amaze me is that people like this do exist - they're not some fictional evil character in a novel. The hipocrisy they display is amazing. And Its amazing that they don't have anything better to do with their time. They hate for no logical reason. Even if there was a good reason why let it consume you? But these Uriah Heeps will never rise above their own narcissistic disorder. Sadly, the sickness they have controls their thoughts and actions so much that they don't believe they're doing anything wrong. Hence their actions regarding the charity drive. When small like minds band together for a common cause it creates a volatile situation that can get out of control which is exactly what happened here. Threats were made to the business sponsoring the event, the woman who organized it and the charity itself. Completely missing the mark they claim to be against. Now tell me what person in their right mind thinks this behavior is acceptable?
Be against Cindy all you want because we all know she's never going to be mother of the year, but if someone uses her stupidty to create a counter action to innocent bystanders that makes them WORSE than Cindy could ever be. Now when it comes to us calling these people trolls in no way does it make us even close to being in the same category as them. The differences are many but heres just a few: It's not personal like their attacks are. It's not unfounded as they have proven over and over with their recent actions, and it's NOT inciting the problem to be worse because they already achieved that with their threats of violence so please spare us the self righteous admonishments.
Because If I see anyone attack someone I admire or appreciate or care about you damn right I will go after them and put them in their place. I make no apologies for my intolerance of arrogant, ignorant bullies who don't have the desire to use common sense or the class to restrain themselves from being obnoxious. These people need to be informed that they have no impact beyond an annoying mosquito and they look pathetic to reasonbly minded people.
If you choose to think we are the same as they are - that's your opinion and you're entitled to it for ALL it's worth. Just like I'm entitled to think you're nuts and didn't get one single point of Daves blog about this particular story. If you had you wouldn't be here defending the people who caused the debacle and admonishing other posters for speaking their opinions or telling us what we should donate. We're all adults here and I'm sure we know what to do when we want to donate. And we donate when we can we just don't feel the need to advertise it 6 or 7 times in a post.
Thanks, MysticalPippin. You said it all. To justify those despicable trolls because of hatred for Cindy makes no sense whatsoever.
Thank you Dave, I was a little worried you might think I went too far but Marshmellow's post got my gander up and I turned into a lioness protecting her cubs.....(not that you need protecting) One of my pet peeves is I can't stand people who scold others but are missing the point completely while acting holier than thou about it.
I can understand what marshmallow was saying, but there is a big difference between griping about Cindy and inserting oneself into a charity organization to disrupt and destroy it. If someone wants to donate and voice an opinion at the same time, that's acceptable, but to make threats against a charity with no intent to do anything but cause trouble, that's got no merit at all. That was the only goal of those trolls.
